I wanted to say I feel you on this one. Moving to New York and being part of the fashion industry I had a lot of insecurities about people even giving me the time of day because I am not a model size 2. (infact a girl in Intermix remarked to me that if I saw any clothes I liked they had bigger sizes in the back, but I digress) But I did manage to land an internship and was then even more bombarded with people in perfect outfits and 3+ inch heels.</p> <p>But I guess the part that made me feel better about it all was when I sat in on a meeting that involved the lead designer and we had just got new samples in that she wanted to see on a body. She looked around the room of about 10 of us and said “You know, it should be a requirement that to get a job here that you have to be able to model the clothes….but then we’d all be out of a job” and of course everyone laughed. But basically what I’m trying to get at is that New York likes to put up a really nice façade of perfect, attractive people but when it comes to business and making it people care more about what you bring to the table other than looks. And honestly I was shocked about how nice and welcoming everyone is once you talk to them.</p> <p>And just btw, the biggest topics of conversation are normally food or new diet plans. Even the beautiful people are insecure. =3</p> </blockquote> <p>This was a really wonderful response.
